Following the DRC-Africa 2023 Forum, 18 recommendations were made to improve mining and industrial governance in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Africa. Among these recommendations are the establishment of a general law on industries, the development of skills and technologies in the electric battery sector, cooperation between African states, increasing the supply of battery metals in Africa, improving governance of the mining sector, local processing of battery metals and the creation of special economic zones. The Bangui Court of Appeal in the Central African Republic sentenced François Bozizé and several rebel leaders to life imprisonment for their role in the armed offensive during the presidential election of December 2020. The convicts are being tried in absentia and found guilty of several charges. Since the offensive, the Coalition of Patriots for Change has lost its power and tensions have emerged between the different leaders. François Bozizé lives in exile and calls for inclusive dialogue to resolve the political crisis. On the ground, occasional attacks continue but do not represent a real threat to the power in place. In this article, we discover that the First Lady of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi, traveled to New York to participate in the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
