### Raising child protection standards in the DRC: an urgent appeal for action
On March 31, 2023, a decisive turning point for the rights of children in the Democratic Republic of Congo was marked by the launch of new operating modes by the International Bureau of Children’s Rights (IBCR). These tools, supported by Global Affairs Canada, aim to transform the often dark reality experienced by millions of Congolese children, exposed to negligence and exploitation. By responding to local challenges with a practical and inclusive approach, these operating modes seek to strengthen the capacities of protection actors, improve neglected practices, and encourage better coordination within communities.
In a complex socio-cultural context, which places the rights of children in the background, it is crucial that the implementation of these initiatives implies all actors-government, civil society and, above all, the children themselves. The support of the Congolese government and the invitation to a collective commitment underline the urgency to act. In the end, guaranteeing the protection of children in the DRC is not only a legal obligation, but a shared responsibility which will determine the future of the nation. Three words sum up this hope: change, inclusion, action.
