Strengthening Education in the Democratic Republic of Congo: Key Recommendations from the 2024 Annual Performance Review

Fatshimetrie, August 28, 2024 – The issue of education in the Democratic Republic of Congo is at the heart of concerns, and recommendations were made during the Annual Performance Review (RAP) of National Education in Kinshasa.

The Vice-Minister of National Education, Jean-Pierre Kezamudru, welcomed the recommendations that are in line with the presidential vision aimed at building an inclusive and quality education system. He stressed the importance of consolidating and perpetuating free primary education for the future of education in the DRC.

The 2024 Annual Performance Review met the requirements of the current education strategy, and the Vice-Minister stressed the need for all entities of the Ministry of Education to contribute to its implementation.

Among the recommendations made, mention was made of the need for the government to provide the Ministry of Education with the necessary resources to implement the planned activities. Joseph Mwinkkeu, Director of the Haut Katanga Education Province, also highlighted the importance of developing a resource mobilization strategy, with close collaboration with donors.

The final report of the work highlighted several points, such as the signing of agreements with technical and financial partners, the enhancement of the salaries of provincial directors, the management of the data protection process, and the optimization of resources for the socio-economic development of the country.

Participants in the Fatshimetrie conference expressed their satisfaction, emphasizing the importance of these recommendations for improving education in the DRC. These advances mark a significant step towards building an inclusive and quality education system for Congolese youth and the future of the country.
