Congolese Genocide Commemoration Event: Genocost 2023

August 2, 2023 will mark the unfolding of the Genocost commemoration event, dedicated to raising awareness about the Congolese Genocide and its profound impact in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Cayp, an organization committed to promoting reflection, education and solidarity, invites all people around the world to join them for this special day. The event will be streamed online throughout the day, with physical rallies planned in Paris, Goma and Kinshasa.

Under the theme “The Cost of Genocide”, Genocost 2023 will highlight the devastating consequences suffered by the Congolese people. It will be an opportunity to remember the economic shortfall, the lives lost, the communities shattered and the lingering trauma that survivors face. The objective of the event is to foster understanding of these consequences and to inspire concrete actions to build a better future for the Congolese people.

The focal point of Genocost 2023 will be a live broadcast of an exclusive interview featuring three mining industry experts in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Their in-depth knowledge and experiences will highlight the far-reaching effects of genocide, especially in the context of the mining sector.

For those who will be present in Paris, the physical gathering will be held at 10, rue des Terres au Curé, in the 13th arrondissement, offering participants an opportunity to come together and participate in various activities aimed at paying tribute to the victims and supporting the survivors. In Kinshasa, a side event will take place, providing a space for reflection and solidarity at the heart of the affected community.

Cayp invites anyone who cares about the Congolese genocide to join the Genocost movement, whether by participating in person or online. Share your thoughts, stories and support using the hashtags #Genocost #Genocost10 #Genocost2023 and #NeverForget.
