The controversy persists in the Democratic Republic of Congo concerning the audit of the electoral register. While the opposition is calling for a new external audit, the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) refuses this request, arousing criticism and suspicion. Martin Fayulu Madidi, president of the ECIDé party, accuses the CENI of despising the Congolese by refusing this request. The importance of a transparent audit of the electoral register is underlined to guarantee fair and equitable elections and to ease political tensions in the DRC.
