Summary :
This article highlights the importance of raising awareness among indigenous Pygmy women about contraceptive methods. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, these women face unique reproductive health challenges, including a high rate of unintended pregnancies. To address this, the Indigenous Health Association has established an awareness project that aims to inform and educate more than 400 Pygmy women about contraceptive methods. The holistic approach to this awareness raising takes into account the cultural and linguistic specificities of the Pygmy community. Educational resources in local languages have been developed and awareness sessions are organized in accessible locations. The goal is to improve the reproductive health of these women by reducing the number of unwanted pregnancies and giving them the opportunity to make informed decisions about their health. It is important to ensure easy access to contraceptive methods, so that Pygmy women can put their contraceptive choices into practice. By supporting these initiatives, we contribute to their well-being and autonomy.
