The President of the Denise NYAKERU TSHISEKEDI Foundation organized an event to raise awareness among students about academic excellence and sickle cell disease. Nearly 180 students from twenty schools in Haut Katanga were brought together to be informed about the EXCELLENTIA program, which rewards academic excellence, and to be made aware of sickle cell anemia, a widespread genetic disease. The President encouraged the students to achieve academic excellence and reminded them of the importance of screening for sickle cell disease. Fellows from the first edition of EXCELLENTIA were present to inspire future winners.
