An inclusive vision: South Kivu’s new budget for 2025

In South Kivu, a region rich in cultural and natural diversity, recent news has been marked by an important decision taken by provincial deputies. Indeed, during a plenary session held on Monday, December 23, 2024, political representatives validated the draft budget edict for the 2025 financial year. This crucial step was the result of meticulous work by the ECOFIN commission, which listened to the remarks and suggestions of parliamentarians to enrich the initial text presented by the governor.

One of the highlights of this budget is the introduction of new headings intended to support various sectors of South Kivu society. Indeed, special provisions have been made to support civil society, the media, artists, athletes, women, citizen movements, but also the political opposition. This inclusive approach aims to guarantee fair and meaningful support to all actors involved in the development of the province.

Governor Jean Jacques Purusi welcomed these advances, stressing the importance of this global and united vision. In addition to the sectors mentioned above, specific allocations have been provided for the defense and security forces, thus demonstrating the provincial government’s commitment to those who ensure the security and protection of the population.

The budget for the 2025 financial year is precisely balanced at 783,072,172,188.53 FC, reflecting rigorous and transparent management of resources. This approval therefore marks a crucial step in the province’s financial planning, paving the way for concrete actions in favor of the sustainable and balanced development of South Kivu.

In conclusion, this validation of the provincial budget for the coming year demonstrates the willingness of local authorities to meet the needs and expectations of the population. By integrating key sectors and ensuring a fair distribution of resources, South Kivu is positioning itself as an actor committed to building a better future for all its inhabitants.
