The governor of Mai-Ndombe province, Lebon Nkoso Kevani, recently expressed his wish to see meetings concerning the insecurity caused by the Mobondo militia in Kwamouth take place in this locality, where the atrocities are taking place. During a meeting with the population and security authorities of the city of Kwamouth, Lebon Nkoso Kevani stressed the importance of addressing this issue directly and on the ground.
He mentioned in particular that the representatives who speak on behalf of Kwamouth from Kinshasa are not recognized as true customary chiefs by the local population. These statements echo the complaints of the inhabitants of Kwamouth, asking for concrete and local management of the ongoing crisis.
The governor insisted that the meetings to resolve this crisis should take place in Kwamouth, emphasizing the presence of the armed forces in the region as a guarantee of security. He stressed the need for recognition of legitimate customary leaders by the local population, thus recalling the importance of legitimacy and representativeness in discussions and decision-making.
By urging a direct and authentic approach, Lebon Nkoso Kevani highlighted the desire of the local community to have its concerns taken into account seriously and respectfully. According to him, security meetings should therefore be held on site to allow the population to express themselves and be heard by the competent authorities.
This approach reflects a desire for proximity and listening to the needs of citizens, as well as a recognition of the legitimate actors of the Kwamouth community. It highlights the importance of an inclusive and concerted approach to resolving conflicts and easing tensions in the region.
