Kinshasa faces the challenge of urban cleanliness: Issues and actions to be taken

Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, is a city rich in history and culture. However, a persistent problem of dirt and uncleanliness has plagued it for several years. This issue was recently raised during a plenary session at the National Assembly, highlighting the vital issues related to public hygiene and waste management in the city.

The intervention of the national deputy Augustin Matata Ponyo highlighted the potential risks to which the population of Kinshasa is exposed in the event of heavy rains, warning of the specter of epidemics that could result from the ambient dirt. He advocated for the establishment of an emergency committee to examine this crucial issue and adopt preventive measures to protect the population.

The favorable reaction of the President of the National Assembly, Vital Kamerhe, underlined the importance of addressing this issue seriously and proactively. He stressed the need to involve all stakeholders, including the Governor of the City of Kinshasa and local authorities, to develop effective and sustainable solutions to this challenge.

Beyond the issue of the cleanliness of the city, the commission also plans to address the problem of uncontrolled construction that contributes to the degradation of the urban environment. This comprehensive approach would make it possible to address the different facets of the problem and adopt coherent measures to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of Kinshasa.

It is essential to emphasize that the cleanliness of a city reflects its level of development and the well-being of its population. By investing in efficient waste management infrastructure, raising awareness among the population about the importance of cleanliness and strengthening cooperation between the different government bodies, Kinshasa could transform its image and offer a healthier and more pleasant living environment to its inhabitants.

In conclusion, the issue of the cleanliness of the city of Kinshasa is a major challenge that deserves special attention and concrete actions. By joining forces and adopting an inclusive and proactive approach, local and national authorities could transform the Congolese capital into a clean, sustainable and welcoming city for all.
