Rehabilitation of access roads to Kinshasa: Major project for the future of the Congolese capital


Fatshimetrie, October 27, 2024 – The future of road infrastructure in Kinshasa seems to be taking a decisive turn with the launch of rehabilitation work on the roads parallel and perpendicular to Boulevard du 30 Juin. This initiative, led by Governor Daniel Bumba, aims to facilitate access to the city center of the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Indeed, this work aims to solve the problem of traffic jams and improve traffic flow in the region. Governor Bumba stressed the importance of this work to ensure easier access to the city center, which is a strategic commercial area of ​​the city.

The first phase of this vast rehabilitation operation concerns the roads located around the central market, in particular Avenue Flambeau, Avenue Kasaï, Avenue Bokasa, Avenue Kasa-Vubu, Avenue de l’école, Plateau, Avenue du marais and Avenue du marché. Special mention is also made to Itaga Avenue, which will benefit from a new road leading from Haut Commandement Avenue to 24 to connect to Itaga, thus facilitating the mobility of residents.

The governor was keen to highlight the financial commitment of the central government in this project, attesting to the authorities’ desire to modernize the city’s urban infrastructure. This initiative is part of a global approach aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens and promoting the economic development of the region.

Furthermore, the governor announced that the distribution of tables at the central market will take place at the end of the rehabilitation work to guarantee a better commercial environment for local vendors. He also assured that measures have been taken to temporarily install traders in temporary locations during the duration of the work.

In conclusion, this work to rehabilitate access roads to downtown Kinshasa is part of a dynamic of urban development and infrastructure modernization. They demonstrate the authorities’ desire to meet the population’s needs in terms of mobility and commerce, thereby helping to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of the Congolese capital.
