The Importance of Preserving the Nile River Course in Egypt
In the context of tourism development and natural heritage protection, Egypt is committed to cooperating with various agencies to meet the requirements of tourism facilities while respecting the standards of preserving the Nile River and its tributaries.

At a joint committee meeting, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy stressed the country’s commitment to cooperating on these critical issues. The meeting, chaired by Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hany Sewilam, brought together representatives from the Ministries of Tourism and Antiquities, Water Resources and Irrigation, Housing, Public Services and Urban Communities, and the Armed Forces Land Projects Authority.

At the heart of the discussions were major topics such as operating the electronic system for managing land allocations along the Nile, combating encroachments and filling operations in the Nile river sector, as well as considering the categories of fees for the use of land allocations along the Nile. Anchoring floating structures along the Nile river course, from Shubra to Helwan, was also at the center of the discussions, in accordance with the directives of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

Hany Sewilam stressed the importance of coordination between state agencies for the preservation of the Nile river course and its two tributaries, by integrating all technical standards that ensure the preservation of the river section and the protection of its bridges.

The participants agreed to maintain efforts to combat encroachments on the Nile and its tributaries, thus underlining Egypt’s commitment to preserving this vitally important natural environment.

Images of these efforts to preserve the Nile in Egypt demonstrate the country’s desire to reconcile tourism development and respect for the river ecosystem, thus offering a promising vision of the future for the preservation of this legendary river.
