His resounding victory over Malian Djibril Traoré confirmed his undeniable talent in the ring. For his part, Pita Kabeji impressed by dominating his Cameroonian opponent George Baguiguana Abeb with precise and hard-hitting punches, winning all three rounds hands down. On the women’s side, Carine Nkelani and Gisèle Nyembo also shone, securing their place in the semi-finals with determination and tenacity. Carine a Nkelani won against Jael du Coeur Essele of Congo Brazzaville, while Gisèle Nyembo brilliantly dismissed Tina Andriamiarisoa Mora. Kolongo Bakora defeated Bakana Kombo in the men’s 54 kg category, adding another victory to the list of Congolese exploits.
Despite some setbacks, such as Grâce Biemulunyi Tshibalabala’s defeat against Camaroun’s Marie Victoire Onguene Tsimi, or Sila Tshimanga’s defeat against Morocco’s Mardi Khadua, the Congolese delegation stayed the course and continued its efforts with determination. The challenges ahead promise to be exciting, with eight Congolese representatives ready to do battle in the ring during the upcoming clashes. Thrilling duels in prospect, such as the one opposing Benedicte Diyoka to Cameroonian Doriane Nyangono in the -48 kg category, or the one between Landry Matete and Tsoni Icha Baltazard of Congo Brazzaville in the 92 kg category.
Thus, Congolese boxing displays undeniable vitality and talent, driven by athletes determined to leave their mark on the history of this demanding and captivating sport. All eyes are on these champions in the making, ready to defy the limits and inspire a new generation of passionate boxers. The upcoming fights promise to be intense and spectacular, to the great delight of lovers of the noble art across the African continent.
