**Fatshimetrie: Active Egyptian diplomacy to ease tensions in the Middle East**
Egypt has once again demonstrated its commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East, especially in the face of recent events in Israel and Lebanon. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty stressed the need to defuse tensions caused by the Israeli aggression against Lebanon. In a phone call with Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Abdelatty discussed developments in the situation in Lebanon and Egypt’s efforts to reach a ceasefire and defuse the crisis. He also stressed the importance of supporting Lebanese national institutions, especially the Lebanese Army, while implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
