Fluctuations in the prices of frozen products on the markets of Kinshasa in October 2024

Kinshasa, October 2024 – The markets of Kinshasa are experiencing a change in the prices of frozen products this October 2024. A careful investigation revealed an interesting trend in the price fluctuations of various frozen products, including chicken from Turkey.

The market in the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo is the scene of a significant drop in the prices of boxes of “Wilki” chickens weighing 12 containing 10 pieces from Turkey. Indeed, the price of this product has fallen from 130,000 to 110,000 FC, which represents a drop of 15.3%. This drop is explained by an abundance of products on the stalls of the markets of Kinshasa.

In addition, other frozen products have also experienced price variations. For example, a carton of chicken commonly called “naked” of 10 pieces went from 68,500 FC to 73,000 FC. Similarly, a carton of livers from Thailand is now sold at 58,000 FC instead of 67,000 FC.

On the other hand, some products have seen their prices remain stable. This is the case for pig’s feet, lungs, chicken backs and gizzards. These products have maintained their prices despite the fluctuations observed on the market.

At the same time, some products have recorded a price increase. Salted fish, chicken legs, meat ribs and pork fillets have seen their prices increase. This increase is partly explained by the increase in taxes and the depreciation of the Congolese franc against the US dollar.

In short, the evolution of frozen product prices on the Kinshasa markets in October 2024 reflects the economic and commercial realities that shape the daily lives of the inhabitants of the Congolese capital. This study highlights the importance of closely monitoring market trends to better understand price changes and adapt consumption accordingly. The accessibility of frozen products to consumers depends closely on these price fluctuations, which can impact their purchasing power and their daily diet.
