Awareness of responsible sexuality for a fulfilled youth

**Fatshimetrie, September 19, 2024 – Raising awareness among young people about responsible sexuality: a necessity for a fulfilled society**

In the heart of the city of Bandundu, the Association for Family Well-Being (ABEF-ND) recently organized a morning of discussions aimed at informing and raising awareness among young people about responsible sexuality. Under the theme of “female leadership for responsible sexuality”, this initiative aimed to provide members of the association with essential information on sexual health, in order to prevent STIs, unwanted pregnancies and other consequences related to uncontrolled sexuality.

The provincial coordinator of ABEF-ND, Pepe Lebwazie, stressed the importance of responsible sexuality for young people. He encouraged young girls to take a vaginal swab every four months in appropriate health facilities, and recommended the systematic use of condoms during sexual intercourse to prevent STIs and HIV/AIDS.

Leadership in sexual health, as defined by Mr. Lebwazie, is based on the ability of young girls to make informed decisions about their sexual lives. It is essential that they are free to choose when and under what conditions they wish to engage in sexual activity, and that they are able to assume the consequences.

Furthermore, Mr. Lebwazie warned against the use of aphrodisiacs and other stimulants, highlighting the potential dangers that these substances can pose to the health of young people, including causing harmful side effects.

By raising awareness among young people about responsible sexuality and encouraging them to make informed decisions, ABEF-ND plays a vital role in promoting the sexual health and well-being of young members of the Bandundu community. This initiative demonstrates the importance of education and awareness-raising in encouraging healthy and responsible sexual behaviors, thus contributing to the construction of a fulfilled and balanced society.

Within the Bandundu community, education on responsible sexuality is a priority, allowing young people to make informed choices for their health and well-being. By highlighting female leadership in this area, ABEF-ND encourages the autonomy and emancipation of young girls, thus contributing to the construction of a more egalitarian society that respects the rights of all.

In conclusion, raising awareness of responsible sexuality is a major issue for promoting the health and well-being of young people. Initiatives such as those implemented by ABEF-ND in Bandundu are essential to strengthen sexual education for young people, inform them about the risks associated with unprotected sexuality and encourage them to adopt responsible behaviors. By investing in awareness-raising and education, society is committed to building a healthier future that is more respectful of the rights of all.
