Fatshimetrie, June 22, 2024 – The southeast of the Democratic Republic of Congo is currently hosting major training on human rights. Indeed, fifteen civil servants and service agents from various sectors as well as five human rights defenders from Haut-Lomami met in Kamina to strengthen their skills in defending fundamental rights.
The objective of this training is clear: to promote dialogue and collaboration between public authorities and the network of human rights defenders. Ephraïm Hemedi, coordinator of the Haut-Lomami Human Rights Defenders Protection Network (Reprodh), underlined the importance of this initiative to create a space for constructive exchange and promote human rights in the region.
Participants in these sessions benefit from the teachings and expertise of three Reprodh member facilitators: MM. Ephraïm Hemedi, Bakari Kayembe and Maole Malango. These training courses will take place in the five territories of Haut-Lomami, thus allowing administrative actors in the public sector to acquire the knowledge necessary to defend and promote human rights within their respective communities.
This initiative demonstrates the commitment of local authorities and human rights defenders to a more just and equitable society. By strengthening the capacities of actors involved in the protection of human rights, this training aims to establish a climate of respect, mutual understanding and cooperation to guarantee respect for everyone’s rights.
Beyond the educational aspect, this training program illustrates the desire of Congolese society to progress towards a culture of human rights anchored in daily practices. By allowing local actors to train and discuss these crucial issues, this initiative contributes to strengthening democracy, the rule of law and the protection of fundamental rights in the Haut-Lomami region.
Ultimately, this human rights training in Kamina embodies hope for a better future for all people in the Democratic Republic of Congo. By promoting dialogue, awareness and cooperation between different actors in society, it paves the way for positive and lasting change for the promotion and respect of human rights in the region.
