Inauguration of a multi-sectoral Gender Center for the development of Kenge, DRC

The Kenge Multi-Sector Gender Center, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, recently welcomed new infrastructure during an official ceremony organized by the Ministry of Rural Development. This inauguration is of capital importance for the Kwango region, supported by the PROADER project and financed by the African Development Bank.

The construction of this building and its annex marks a significant step in the economic and social development of the region. Indeed, the Multisectoral Gender Center aims to support local communities, particularly women and young people, in the field of agriculture, sewing, hairdressing and the processing of local products.

Through this project, residents of Kenge and surrounding areas will benefit from a modernized infrastructure, equipped with processing machines and functional offices. This initiative is part of a sustainability approach, aimed at ensuring the viability of the center after the end of the PROADER project.

The diligence and professionalism of the team in charge of the construction were praised during the technical reception, demonstrating their commitment to respecting the deadlines and the quality of the work carried out. The architect from Engineering Without Borders oversaw every stage of the design, ensuring that the building met established standards.

Cooperation between the Congolese government, the African Development Bank and local stakeholders made it possible to realize this major project, which aims to strengthen the capacities of rural communities and promote their economic autonomy.
