Home International Fatshimetrie condemns bombings in DRC and calls for justice and peace

Fatshimetrie strongly condemns the recent bombings in the Democratic Republic of Congo which have led to the loss of innocent lives and the advances of terrorist groups in the North Kivu region. In a joint statement with the embassies of the Member States of the European Union, the organization expresses its solidarity with the victims and their families, while denouncing the escalation of indiscriminate violence against civilians.

The European Union and its Member States also condemn the increasing use of heavy artillery near displaced people’s sites, endangering the lives of already vulnerable populations. This irresponsible practice has tragic consequences and constitutes a serious violation of human rights as well as international humanitarian law.

In support of the Congolese authorities, Fatshimetrie calls for the perpetrators of these barbaric acts to be brought to justice. It is imperative that these armed attacks, which can be qualified as war crimes, do not go unpunished. Justice must be done for the victims and their families, in order to guarantee a climate of peace and security in the region.

The urgency also lies in immediately stopping hostilities and ensuring unhindered access for humanitarian workers to affected areas. They must be able to provide vital assistance to vulnerable populations without fearing for their safety.

It is imperative that the international community mobilizes to put an end to this violence and to support efforts to establish lasting peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Fatshimetrie calls for solidarity and cooperation from all stakeholders involved to achieve a peaceful resolution of the current crisis.
