According to Hakainde Hichilema, the situation in eastern DRC remains worrying, representing a major challenge for the stability of the sub-region. Highlighting the commitment of SAMIDRC contributing countries to intensify their efforts to bring peace to the DRC, SADC Executive Secretary Elias Mpedi Magosi also expressed support for political and diplomatic initiatives aimed at establishing lasting peace in the region, notably through the Lusaka and Nairobi processes.
The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, led the Congolese delegation present at this summit, thus showing the country’s commitment to working hand in hand with the SADC for the resolution of the ongoing crises.
This summit was an opportunity for the various stakeholders to reaffirm their desire to unite their efforts to restore peace and stability in a region where populations continue to suffer from the consequences of armed conflicts and massive displacements. International cooperation remains essential to overcome these major challenges and pave the way for a more secure and prosperous future for all.
