The Lwama Commando Training Center in Kindu recently hosted a significant ceremony, overseen by Jean-Pierre Bemba Gombo, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense and Veterans Affairs of the Democratic Republic of Congo. During this event, the 31st rapid reaction brigade successfully completed its intensive training under the supervision of various military and political figures.
Félix Antoine Tshisekedi’s representative expressed gratitude towards the trainers, notably Belgian instructors, and Congolese mentors for their dedicated efforts in this vital mission. Stressing the training’s importance in response to threats against the country’s territorial integrity, Deputy Prime Minister Bemba emphasized the essential values of loyalty and seriousness for the new commandos to execute future missions effectively.
The rigorous nine-month training program, commencing on June 17, 2023, enabled the commandos to enhance their skills in specific tactics and retrain existing units. Belgium played a crucial role as a key partner by offering substantial financial support for the commandos’ equipment, highlighting its commitment to the region’s security and stability.
