“Sacrifice and duty: Lagbaja’s moving tribute to fallen soldiers”

The recent funeral event at the National Cemetery, Abuja, where singer Lagbaja expressed his grief during the burial of 17 military personnel, including high-ranking officers and soldiers, deeply moved the country. The tragic events in Okuama have left 10 widows, three of whom are four, five and eight months pregnant, as well as 21 orphans and many other relatives to support.

In a moving speech, Lagbaja highlighted the pain of having to send brave men and women to the front, knowing that not all will return. He also strongly condemned the brutal killing of these soldiers by members of their own community during a legitimate peace mission. The barbaric act of scattering the bodies of decapitated and disembowelled soldiers deeply shocked the country, and the search for the missing organs was particularly difficult and painful.

The Chief of Defense Staff praised the bravery and dedication of the fallen soldiers, stressing that they were the guardians of peace and sentinels of national security. He pledged full support to the bereaved families and called for national unity to fight against those who seek to destabilize the country.

As the country mourns the loss of its heroes, it is imperative to remember their sacrifice and redouble our efforts to build a secure and prosperous nation for all its citizens. Active soldiers also deserve recognition and gratitude for their commitment to the nation.

Ultimately, the events in Okuama must serve as a catalyst to strengthen the country’s resolve to combat violence and insecurity, and create a better future for future generations.
