“The Minister of Kasai-Central defends the education of young girls to counter the scourge of early marriage”

Fighting the scourge of early marriage is a crucial mission, and the provincial minister for gender, family and children of Kasaï-Central, Aimérance Kalubi, is fully aware of this. In Kananga, she recently led an awareness campaign among young girls to encourage them to devote themselves to their studies and to refuse any marriage before the legal age.

At Buena Muntu High School, during a passionate speech, the minister reminded adolescent girls of the importance of remaining focused on their academic career and firmly rejecting any form of sexual harassment or pressure for early marriage. She encouraged them to be disciplined, respectful and not to be influenced by tempting financial offers.

This intervention by the Minister is part of Women’s Month, highlighting the importance of protecting young girls against early marriages which compromise their future and their personal development.

It is essential to continue to raise awareness and educate younger generations about the harmful consequences of early marriage, highlighting the importance of education and empowerment of girls. It is by working together to break these dangerous social patterns that we can offer a better and more equal future for all.
