In a recent operation by the National Narcotics and Drug Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Nigeria, 227kg of hemp was seized at Atoshi Camp, Emure-Ile, Owo State . Two suspects were apprehended during this operation, marking a victory against drug trafficking in the region.
Meanwhile, operatives of the agency in Edo State intercepted a large quantity of methamphetamine when they searched a consignment originating from Onitsha, Anambra State, and bound for Lagos. The drug, weighing 0.966 kg, was hidden inside a local cassava dish, an African salad known as “Abacha”. The driver of the vehicle was arrested in connection with this seizure.
On the same day, another NDLEA team discovered 865 bottles of codeine, 2,600 tramadol pills and 600 swinol and rohypnol tablets in a Peugeot 406 driven by a 47-year-old man. This operation took place on the Uromi road, in East Esan LGA.
Meanwhile, in Abuja, NDLEA operatives conducted raids in Kubwa area, where they arrested two individuals in possession of 10.5kg of cannabis, 13.5g of diazepam and 2.9g of drug tablets. tramadol. These operations demonstrate the agency’s continued commitment to combating drug abuse in Nigeria.
In addition to these seizures, the various branches of the NDLEA continued their awareness campaign against drug abuse among various communities.
