Marie Josée IFOKU, President of the Alliance of Elites for a New Congo (AENC), submitted her candidacy for the 2023 presidential election to the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI). As the first female candidate to enter the race for the highest office, her act symbolizes a step forward for the representation of women in politics.
When submitting her candidacy, Marie Josée IFOKU was taken to the President of the CENI, Denis KADIMA KAZADI, to discuss the electoral process and the issues that arise. She highlighted her political ideology based on the concept of “kombolization”, which aims to combat anti-values and bad practices. According to her, it is time for the Congolese people to choose a vision rather than a person, and her vision of kombolization promises to break with the system of predation that has marked the country’s history.
In her statements, Marie Josée IFOKU explains that the notion of rupture is essential, referring to the independence of the Congo and the system of predation which has taken root since that time. She is convinced that the Congolese people must break with this system to allow the country’s rebirth. She specifies that her vision of kombolization is based on five key points, which she will develop later.
During her interview with Denis KADIMA KAZADI, Marie Josée IFOKU expressed her confidence in the president of the CENI and offered her support to guarantee transparent and legitimate elections. She hopes that this time things will go smoothly and that the publication of the results will be done office by office, thus putting an end to the crisis of legitimacy that marked previous electoral cycles.
