Article: Discover the secret operation Nili: the hunt for Hamas members by Mossad and Shin Beth
In a world where information travels at high speed, it is sometimes difficult to distinguish the secret operations taking place behind the scenes. Operation Nili, carried out by a special unit composed of Mossad and Shin Beth agents, is a striking example. His goal ? Track down and eliminate the Hamas members responsible for the deadly October 7 attack on Israeli territory.
When the Israeli media revealed the existence of Operation Nili, little information leaked out. Officially, no confirmation has been provided by the Israeli authorities. However, sources have corroborated the existence of this secret unit, which appears to be a response to the failure of intelligence services to detect the Hamas attack.
The name of the operation, Nili, is loaded with symbols. It refers to a Jewish spy network that supported Britain in its fight against the Ottoman Empire in Palestine from 1915 to 1917. But it is also taken from a biblical quote, “The Eternity of Israel will not lie”, which underlines the unfailing determination of the Hebrew State.
If the existence of Operation Nili has not been officially confirmed, it is nevertheless logical that such a unit would have been set up. The Mossad, in particular, is tasked with neutralizing threats to Israel and retaliating in the event of an attack. The hunt for Hamas members therefore corresponds perfectly to their remit.
Operation Nili also recalls the “Wrath of God” operation carried out by the Mossad from 1972. After the massacre of Israeli athletes during the Munich Olympics by the terrorist group Black September, the Mossad tracked down and eliminated those responsible of this attack for almost twenty years. This operation represents the very example of implacable vengeance.
The means deployed by the Israeli state to hunt down terrorists are impressive. Operation Wrath of God mobilized up to five different teams of assassins and spies, who were financed and logistically supported for two decades. Complex and sometimes spectacular methods were used to track down and eliminate members of Black September and their collaborators.
A particularly feared unit within the Mossad, called Kidon (harpoon), was created to carry out these elimination operations. Kidon agents are responsible for most of the assassinations carried out by Israeli secret services. Their method is not only intended to kill discreetly, but also to send a message to other terrorist groups by staging the assassinations.
Operation Nili could therefore use Kidon agents to carry out its mission of tracking down and eliminating Hamas members.. These elite agents will do anything to accomplish their mission and often use explosives to hit their targets.
Although little information has leaked out about Operation Nili, it is clear that Mossad and Shin Beth are determined to restore balance after the Hamas attack. This secret operation, in line with previous revenge operations carried out by Israel, underlines the resolve of the Jewish state to protect its citizens and punish those who threaten its security.
Operation Nili remains shrouded in mystery, but it demonstrates the intense and meticulous work of Israeli intelligence services to ensure the country’s security. With information warfare in full swing, it is important to remember that many operations are happening quietly, ready to act to keep everyone safe.
