The quarter-final first leg of the African Football League ended this weekend with two matches full of emotion and suspense. TP Mazembe won against Esperance Tunis (1-0) while Wydad won on the field of Enyimba (1-0).
During the meeting between TP Mazembe and Espérance Tunis, the Ravens managed to take the lead thanks to a goal from Cheick Fofana in the 11th minute of play. Despite Espérance dominating throughout the match, TP Mazembe players managed to preserve their advantage until the end and won a valuable victory.
For their part, the Wydad players also achieved a great performance by winning on the Enyimba field. The Moroccans opened the scoring thanks to a penalty converted by Yahya Jabrane in the 39th minute. Despite the Nigerians clearly dominating throughout the match, Wydad managed to preserve their advantage and leave with victory.
These two results leave everything open for the return matches which will be played in the coming days. The teams will have to remain focused and show great strength to hope to qualify for the semi-finals of the competition.
In parallel with these quarter-finals of the African Football League, other matches were played within the framework of the national championship. During the 9th day of Ligue 1, young Senegalese player Lamine Camara scored his first goal with FC Metz.
