Title: FARDC Chief of General Staff on mission in Kisangani

Lieutenant-General Christian Tshiwewe, Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC), is currently on mission in Kisangani, in the province of Tshopo. His mission of command and control of FARDC units in the provinces of Tshopo, Bas-Uele, Haut-Uele, Maniema, North and South Kivu and Ituri leads him to inquire about the general situation in the third defense zone.

After being welcomed by officers and non-commissioned officers in place, Christian Tshiwewe presented his courtesies to the provincial authority, Madeleine Nikomba, before meeting with the FARDC staff in the third defense zone.

The mission of the FARDC Chief of General Staff also includes a visit to the Lukusa and Bahuma camps to visit the recruits at the training center.

In light of recent events in the DRC, Christian Tshiwewe’s mission is more crucial than ever. The resurgence of the M23 and the insecurity in several provinces of the DRC show the need for a reinforced control of the FARDC units, and for a constant commitment of the authorities for the security and the stability of the country.

The FARDC play a key role in the protection of the Congolese population and in the fight against the armed groups which sow terror in several regions of the country.

In conclusion, this mission is very important for the security and stability of the country. The Chief of the General Staff is strengthening the control of Congolese army units in several provinces. This mission shows the commitment of the FARDC to protect the Congolese population and to fight effectively against the armed groups present on the territory
