Sino-Congolese cooperation: a model of emergence for Africa

The People’s Republic of China (PRC) continues to affirm its desire to evolve on an equal footing with third countries while consolidating its principles of cooperation, including mutual knowledge, the promotion of friendship and the strengthening cooperation in all development sectors. These principles are consolidated by the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

For several years, China has established bilateral cooperation with African countries on the “win-win” principle, which has enabled it to improve trade and export earnings of these countries. Moreover, China encourages African countries to follow its model of collaboration.

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), in particular, has seen major Sino-Congolese cooperation projects such as Sino-Congolese Mines (SICOMINES). This enterprise allowed the reintroduction of the DRC into international flows of formal trade. Unlike other foreign mining companies, SICOMINES has made outstanding contributions to building a future-oriented Sino-African community, making it a model of cooperation and emergence for the African continent.

President Tshisekedi recently signed cooperation agreements with China during his state visit, going beyond building infrastructure. China will thus help the DRC in the production of new and renewable energy to participate in the economic diversification and industrialization of the country.

The DRC will thus be able to position itself on an even larger market and contribute more to the economic growth of the African continent, thanks to strengthened cooperation between China and African countries.
