In Butembo, the Mayor launches a solemn appeal to his constituents for the strict respect of the curfew from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. local time in order to strengthen security in the city. This address is contained in an official press release signed this Tuesday, June 06, 2023.
In this press release, the importance of the collaboration of the entire population for the safety of the city was underlined. Citizens are asked to report suspicious cases in order to deal with any form of insecurity. The Mayor also recalls the directives of the state of siege on the curfew which will be applied for an indefinite period.
“I call on all residents to strictly observe and respect the instructions regarding the curfew which runs from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.,” said the head of Butembo’s town hall.
It should be noted that the lifting of the curfew has not yet been announced till date.
The city has experienced tension lately with several cases of insecurity. Over the past few days, four people have been killed in various circumstances, which has intensified pressure on local authorities to strengthen security and peace in the city.
It is important that everyone observes the Mayor’s instructions to allow the return to a situation conducive to dignified living conditions. We hope that in the coming days, the local authorities will be able to put in place concrete measures to guarantee optimal security in Butembo and in other cities of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
