“End of primary school exam in Haut-Katanga: Girls in the lead with 50.2% of finalists”

The vice-governor of the province of Haut-Katanga, Jean-Claude Kamfwa, gave, last Thursday, the starting signal of the National examination of end of primary studies (Enafep), in the educational province of Haut-Katanga 1 , based in Lubumbashi (Haut-Katanga).

The number of finalist girls exceeded that of boys with a percentage of 50.2% against 49.8% of boys, or 141,414 primary finalists in the educational province of Haut-Katanga 1, including 70,987 girls and 70,427 boys. This represents an increase in numbers in the final year of primary education, which is the result of free education decreed by the Head of State.

The distribution of the finalists is spread over 356 centers, in ten pools or sub-divisions. The exam papers consist of two parts: French and general knowledge for Thursday June 1, 2023, mathematics and science the next day, Friday June 2, 2023.

Note that the educational province has come under the scrutiny of education observers since its quality has declined. This exam is therefore a test for teachers, political and educational authorities to assess the success rate in relation to those enrolled, and to improve the quality of education in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
