The national primary school leaving exam (Enafep) began on June 1, 2023 in the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the educational province of Haut-Katanga 1, in Lubumbashi. The launch ceremony took place inside the Hodari de la Ruashi high school in Lubumbashi 3 sub-division, under the supervision of the vice-governor of the province, Jean-Claude Kamfwa.
More girls than boys were listed this year, ie 50.2% against 49.8% of boys, for a total of 141,414 finalist candidates. This increase in numbers in the final year of primary school is interpreted as the result of free education decreed by the Head of State.
The written tests are divided into two tests: French and general culture for Thursday June 1, 2023, and mathematics and science on Friday June 02, 2023. In total, the finalists from the educational province of Haut-Katanga 1 are distributed in 356 centers, located in ten pools or sub-divisions.
This event is a key step in the educational journey of young people in the Democratic Republic of Congo, who are seeking their primary school leaving certificate. Thanks to the strong participation of girls in this important event, it is possible to envision a brighter future for these young women, who are key actors for economic growth and sustainable development in the country.
