“Together for the Republic” denounces the chaotic situation in the DRC and demands the release of political prisoners

In the Democratic Republic of Congo, the social, political and security situation in the country is becoming increasingly worrying. The deputies and senators of the party “Together for the Republic” of Moïse Katumbi took the floor today to denounce the chaotic climate which reigns in their country and to demand the release of several political prisoners.

Salomon Kalonda Idi Della, general delegate of the party and special adviser to their president, as well as Mike Mukebayi, provincial deputy of their party, and Lens Omelonga, head of the digital unit of Envol, party of the declared candidate for the presidency of the Republic Delly Sesanga, have recently been arrested in the DRC and are being held without valid reason.

Faced with this situation, the deputies and senators of Together for the Republic demand their immediate and unconditional release, as well as that of all political prisoners whose detention contributes to the aggravation of the situation.

They also ask:

– The end of the dictatorial attitudes of the regime of Mr. Tshilombo and respect for the civil and political rights enshrined in the constitution and the laws of the Republic.
– The end of the cult of tribalism, nepotism and embezzlement of public funds as well as influence peddling as a mode of management.
– Clarification of the presence of foreign armies on the national territory without conclusive result.
– The holding of free, transparent, inclusive and fair elections within the constitutional deadline with a consensual CENI and a Constitutional Court composed in accordance with the law.
– An audit of the electoral register by a credible, independent body and not individuals selected on purpose by the CENI in an iniquitous manner.

The deputies and senators of Together for the Republic call on the international community to condemn and sanction all the recurring violations of the fundamental rights and freedoms of citizens by the current regime of Felix Tshisekedi.

Finally, they invite the Congolese population to be vigilant and to support the defense of republican democracy, in particular by participating in mobilizations for the organization of free, democratic, transparent, credible and inclusive elections.
