Subcontracting in the telecommunications sector was at the center of an important working session between the director general of the regulatory authority for subcontracting in the private sector (ARSP), Miguel Kashal Katemb, and officials major telecommunications companies in the DRC, including Vodacom, Airtel, Africell, Orange, Microcom and ISPA. This meeting aims to clean up the subcontracting markets and create a Congolese middle class, in accordance with the vision of President Félix-Antoine TSHISEKEDI.
Telecommunications companies are committed to supporting this vision by being key players in the economic sphere in the DRC. They declared that they were open to the ARSP’s control mission insofar as this remains linked to the Law on subcontracting. This working session is one of many large-scale control activities launched by the ARSP, three weeks ago, in all sectors of the national economy in order to enforce the rules of subcontracting.
The creation of a Congolese middle class is an important lever for economic and social development in the DRC. Several companies such as Suez International, Perse or the major telecommunications companies are committed to supporting initiatives in this direction. In addition, the security crisis in the east of the country and the persistent political tensions should not overshadow the need to build a solid economy that creates jobs and wealth for all.
