The measles vaccination campaign is launched in the health zone of Nyangezi, more precisely at the health center of Munya/Nyangezi. This campaign aims to cover the 12 health areas which extend into 4 groups, namely Karhongo, Kamanyola, Kamisimbi and Lurhala. The head doctor of Nyangezi zone, Dr. Olivier Kabarati Amani, appeals to all parents to sensitize the community to have their children vaccinated. He also highlights the importance of the rising vaccination curve in Nyangezi health zone, which has prevented measles deaths.
The head of the Karhongo/Nyangezi group, Mr. CISHUGI LUNGERE NYANGEZI Pascal, was also present and encouraged the population to allow their children to be vaccinated, because to vaccinate your child is to love him.
In addition, a poliomyelitis vaccination campaign will also be launched in a few days. The head doctor of the Nyangezi zone asks the community relays to do their job well for the success of this campaign.
This announcement is important for the DRC, which experienced a measles epidemic in 2020 that led to the death of more than 6,000 people, mainly children. The vaccination campaign is an essential measure to contain the spread of the disease and prevent new epidemic waves.
As responsible citizens, we have a responsibility to protect our children against these deadly diseases by promoting their vaccination. It is an act of love towards our children and our community
