The governors of the five eastern provinces of the DRC meet in Goma to discuss the development challenges facing their respective regions. This initiative, co-organized by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and MONUSCO, aims to promote cooperation and coordinated responses to common problems.
For three days, the governors of North Kivu, South Kivu, Maniema, Ituri and Tanganyika, accompanied by members of their provincial government, will discuss issues related to development, security and environment. The eastern provinces of the DRC face similar challenges such as security crises, climate change and natural disasters. This regional conversation will allow them to share experiences and find common solutions.
The main objective of this meeting is to produce a common plea for interprovincial cooperation in the sectors of development, prevention of security crises and response to the effects of climate change and natural disasters. By strengthening cooperation between these eastern provinces, it is hoped that significant progress can be made for the development and stability of the region.
It is important to emphasize that this initiative is supported by UNDP and MONUSCO, thus demonstrating the commitment of international organizations to sustainable development and stability in the DRC. By working together, governors and local actors will be able to mobilize the necessary resources and put in place coordinated policies to address the challenges they face.
This meeting is therefore an important step in promoting regional development and inter-provincial cooperation in the DRC. It will strengthen the links between the governors of the East and find common solutions for a better future in these regions
