Completion of the RN 5 road between Bukavu and Kamaniola: a major step forward for the population of South Kivu

As part of the improvement of the social and economic conditions of the Congolese population, the President of the Republic, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, instructed the Minister of State for Infrastructure and Public Works, Alexis Gisaro, to launch work to complete National Road No. 5 (RN 5) between Bukavu and Kamaniola, in the province of South Kivu. This initiative aims to put an end to the difficulties encountered by the local population who were sometimes forced to go through neighboring countries to reach the two cities.

Minister Alexis Gisaro, accompanied by the Minister of the Budget, Aimé Boji, went there to materialize this vision of the Head of State. Work officially began on Saturday July 22, 2023, in the territory of Walungui, more precisely in Niangesi. Their objective is to fulfill the wish of the President of the Republic to improve the living conditions of the population.

The RN 5 road connects two major towns in South Kivu, Bukavu and Kamaniola. Its renovation and completion will make it easier for citizens to travel, both economically and socially. The local population will no longer be forced to go through neighboring countries, such as Rwanda, to get from one city to another.

This government initiative also aims to strengthen regional integration by facilitating trade and access to basic services. It will thus contribute to the economic development of the region by promoting trade and investment.
