In the midst of the pre-election period, marked by rising political tensions and growing insecurity, our country is going through a critical period. The inflammatory and hateful rhetoric uttered by some officials and supporters further fractures our already fragile society. These speeches often aim to impose a single thought, to stifle divergent opinions and to establish a climate of violence and threat. Unfortunately, the authorities in charge of maintaining public order seem to remain silent in the face of this alarming situation, which reinforces the idea of impunity granted to supporters who break Republican law.
Unfortunately, this atmosphere of tension and insecurity led to tragedy. Cherubin Okende, former minister and deputy, was abducted and found dead in horrific circumstances. This tragedy raises many questions: who is responsible for this heinous crime? What are the motivations of attackers? Investigators must now scramble to find answers.
Beyond the emotion and indignation aroused by this tragedy, it is imperative that the Nation come together and firmly oppose the hate speech that destabilizes our republican foundations and undermines our social cohesion. Faced with this serious situation, it is essential that all political leaders demonstrate dignity and responsibility. Whatever our political differences, we must show national unity and moderation in our actions.
In this period of confusion and political intolerance, where no one is safe, I call on the President of the Republic to fully assume his responsibility to guarantee national cohesion. It is his duty, as guarantor of the Constitution, to put an end to tensions, to bring the Nation together and to dispel doubts. It is crucial that he takes concrete measures to preserve our country, because inaction would risk being a form of non-assistance to a Nation in danger.
It is time for us, as citizens, to unite to put an end to this spiral of violence and discord. We cannot abandon our country to those who seek to sow chaos through hate speech and violent acts
