Road rehabilitation in the province of South Kivu: a priority for regional development

The province of South Kivu, located in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, has been experiencing major challenges in terms of road infrastructure for many years. However, recently, constructive discussions have taken place between the Governor of South Kivu, Théo Ngwabidje Kasi, and the Minister of State for Infrastructure and Public Works, Alexis Gisaro Muvunyi, in order to find appropriate solutions to this problem.

At the center of these discussions is the modernization of the RN5, a key road section linking PKO Independence Square to Kamanyola. Of the 55 km planned for the works, only 15 km have been rehabilitated so far, up to the locality of Nyantende. The Governor of South Kivu has obtained the commitment of Minister Gisaro to launch the rehabilitation works next week. The objective is to open up the population and promote trade between the provinces of South Kivu, Maniema and Tanganyika.

In addition, the Governor also informed the Minister of the status of other national roads in the province, such as Bukavu-Goma, Bukavu-Mwenga, Miti-Hombo-Bunyakiri, Bukavu-Burhale-Shabunda and Idjwi North to Idjwi South. These roads require comprehensive rehabilitation to improve regional connectivity and stimulate economic development.

Minister Gisaro Muvunyi, a native of South Kivu, promised to pay particular attention to these issues and seek appropriate solutions. It is committed to advocating with other Congolese government partners to ensure funding and the completion of the necessary work.

In addition, the Minister announced the future rehabilitation of 90 km of the RN3, linking Miti to Hombo and Bunyakiri, by the company N.G.E. Preparations are underway and work should start soon. Governor Ngwabidje Kasi expressed his satisfaction and paid tribute to the President of the Republic, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, for his commitment to improving road infrastructure in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This road rehabilitation initiative in the province of South Kivu is a vital step for regional development. It will open up populations, promote trade and strengthen the economic integration of neighboring provinces. This collaboration between Governor Ngwabidje Kasi and Minister Gisaro Muvunyi is a concrete example of the political will to take into account the needs of citizens and to promote sustainable development.

In conclusion, the rehabilitation of road infrastructure in the province of South Kivu is a crucial issue for improving the quality of life of the inhabitants, promoting economic development and strengthening regional integration.. Thanks to the collaboration between the provincial and national authorities, significant progress is in sight, thus making it possible to glimpse a better future for the population of South Kivu
