On July 14, 2023, Me Sekera Kivwasuvwamo, lawyer and member of the “AV” political group, submitted his application to the Office of Reception and Processing of Applications (BRTC) of Butembo. In a statement, he expresses his motivation to apply and lists the problems facing the city of Butembo.
One of the main problems mentioned by Mr. Sekera Kivwasuvwamo is that of urban roads and electrical energy. He denounces the fact that the company Énergie du Kivu (ENK) charges consumers for the rental of meters, which he considers unacceptable. It also highlights the fight against insalubrity in the city, as well as the issue of those displaced by war.
In addition, Me Sekera Kivwasuvwamo raises the issue of REGIDESO, the water distribution company, which also charges for the rental of meters. He also denounces the internet connection fees charged to students by institutions and universities, when they do not have an adequate connection. If elected, he intends to engage on these various issues.
Beyond his aspirations, Me Sekera Kivwasuvwamo recalls his commitment to the people of Butembo, particularly in the fight against massacres. He points out that he has tabled two bills on the issue and is currently engaged in a lawsuit against the ENK company for its offenses in the city.
