Physical and biometric control operation in Ituri: Reinforcement of security and improvement of the living conditions of active soldiers

Physical and biometric control of active soldiers: a step towards securing Ituri

The security situation in the province of Ituri in the Democratic Republic of Congo is a matter of concern. Faced with the resurgence of violence perpetrated by the ADF rebels and the M23 terrorists, the Military Governor of the province, Lieutenant-General Luboya N’kashama, recently launched an operation of physical and biometric control of the active soldiers of the 32nd region military.

This control operation aims to establish an accurate census of military personnel in the Ituri region. Indeed, it is essential to know the exact number of soldiers present on the ground in order to strengthen the Congolese army in the face of internal and external threats to the country.

The main objective of this control is twofold: on the one hand, to ensure better management of military personnel and on the other hand, to improve the living conditions of the soldiers. By knowing precisely the number of active military personnel, it will be possible to take adequate measures to guarantee their well-being and safety.

In order to guarantee the effectiveness of this control, the army specified that it could only be carried out within the military units themselves. Thus, all soldiers of the 32nd military region are invited to return to their respective unit to be subjected to this rigorous control. This will prevent any attempt to circumvent the screening process.

It was in a particularly tense context that the Military Governor set an example by being the first to pass this physical and biometric check. This initiative aims to show the importance of this operation and to encourage all soldiers to submit to it.

This process of physical and biometric control of the active soldiers of the 32nd military region of Ituri is a step towards securing the region. By really knowing the personnel present on the ground, it will be possible to better organize operations to fight against armed groups and to strengthen the military presence in risk areas.

This initiative is part of a more comprehensive reform of the Congolese army, aimed at strengthening its intervention capacity and ensuring the safety of the population. Hopefully, this check will shed light on the army’s resources and needs to better respond to the security challenges facing the Ituri region.
