Faith Word In action: Annual review of women’s and girls’ empowerment activities in the DRC

Annual review of development and empowerment activities for young women and girls by Faith Word In action

Faith Word In Action (FWA) is a grassroots organization funded by organizations like Oxfam, FEMNET and the European Union. She works in the development and empowerment of young women and girls, so that they can assume leadership roles in their communities. Recently, FWA organized a workshop in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, to carry out its annual review of activities.

The objective of this two-day workshop was to take stock of the programmatic and financial execution of FWA’s activities, highlighting the progress made and the key results achieved by each member of the organization. It was also a question of drawing conclusions in order to revitalize the work plan for the year 2023.

Anifa Kalombola, Executive Secretary of Faith Word In action, reminded participants of the importance of this workshop. It makes it possible to take stock of achievements and constraints encountered, to assess the relevance of the results defined, to analyze major developments and new challenges, and finally to plan actions for the coming year.

The workshop was not limited to activities related to the STITCH project, but allowed partners to discuss their various projects and achievements with FWA, in collaboration with Oxfam and FEMNET. Each partner was thus able to share their experiences, successes and challenges encountered during the year 2022.

For almost four years, Faith Word In action has played a vital role in the DRC in the field of women’s empowerment. It is one of 14 FEMNET member organizations selected to implement the STITCH project in seven African countries. This project aims to empower women and girls through concrete actions.

FWA’s initiative demonstrates the commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment in the DRC. By working in collaboration with its partners, it contributes to social transformation and the creation of an enabling environment for the development and leadership of young women and girls.

It is essential to emphasize the importance of supporting initiatives such as those of Faith Word In action, which work for the empowerment of women. By investing in education, professional training, access to rights and the economic empowerment of women, we contribute to building a more egalitarian and inclusive society. The work of FWA and its partners is a step in the right direction to create a better future for all women and girls in the DRC
