Withdrawals from the Games of La Francophonie in Kinshasa: a surprise that does not taint the enthusiasm of the participants

The IX Games of La Francophonie, scheduled for July 28 to August 6 in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, have recently experienced some withdrawals from some participating countries. The director of the national committee for these games, Isidore Kwandja, said he was surprised by the decision, saying that all the countries’ concerns regarding security, health and infrastructure had been taken into account by the Congolese government.

Among the countries that have withdrawn, Quebec recently announced its withdrawal, while New Brunswick has confirmed its presence. Despite these withdrawals, several other French-speaking states and territories have confirmed their participation, such as Switzerland, Wallonia and France.

Isidore Kwandja underlines the fact that each State is sovereign in its decision to participate or not in the event. He takes note of the withdrawals, but remains surprised by these waivers, in particular those of the countries which had shown a strong interest previously.

The Francophone Games are a major event bringing together participants from different French-speaking countries in various sporting and artistic disciplines. It is therefore an opportunity for athletes and artists to meet, discuss and promote the Francophonie throughout the world.

Despite the challenges they face, organizers remain optimistic about how the event will unfold and hope to provide attendees with a memorable experience.

In conclusion, the withdrawals of certain countries for the IX Games of La Francophonie in Kinshasa caused surprise, but many other countries maintain their participation. This event remains an important opportunity to celebrate Francophone diversity and promote cultural and sporting exchange between participating countries
