The DRC loses an emblematic figure of showbizz: tribute to Samy Mikobi, the Strategist of Bandal

The Congolese showbiz is in mourning. Samy Mikobi, also known by the pseudonym “Le Stratège”, died on Thursday May 11. His name remains engraved in the musical universe of the DRC, especially in the town of Bandal, his stronghold.

Jean-Pierre Eale Ikabe, journalist and “cultural man”, had paid tribute to him through a column published on September 1, 2019. He describes Samy Mikobi there as a person endowed with incredible interpersonal skills, which had allowed him to frequent all strata of society.

Originally from the commune of Bandalungwa where he grew up, Samy Mikobi had studied at the Athénée de Kalina, now known as the Athénée de la Gombe. This is where his talents to evolve in influential circles began to take shape.

His great quality was his loyalty in friendship, as evidenced by his friendship with Papa Wemba. He was also one of those who often had the chance to welcome her into their home. Samy Mikobi was also known for his great ability to evolve in influential circles and to use his relationships to get things done.

The death of the Strategist has left a great emotion in all those who knew him. The DRC thus loses an emblematic figure, but his name will remain engraved in the cultural history of the country.
