“Senator Francine Muyumba urges the departure of the EAC regional force before the arrival of the SADC in the Democratic Republic of Congo”

Senator Francine Muyumba spoke on her Twitter account, insisting on the departure of the regional force of the Member States of the East African Community (EAC) before the deployment of that of the SADC, in order to allow SADC to succeed in its mission and avoid any duplication. For her, the SADC in the east without the departure of the EAC is one more mess.

This exit of the senator follows the decision of the member states of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to approve the deployment in the coming days of their soldiers in the DRC. SADC recommended that the Democratic Republic of Congo meet all the conditions required for a coordination summit of all international stakeholders and actors on the ground in order to achieve effective and harmonized action.

In the DRC, the fight against unpunished illicit enrichment is a major obstacle to development. The UN Secretary General has called for enhanced inter-African cooperation to resolve the crisis in the DRC and the Great Lakes region.

Political stability also remains fragile in the DRC, with community and political tensions. Deadly clashes as well as flooding have been reported in some provinces.

Finally, initiatives are being taken to improve governance and public finances in the DRC, including more efficient management of the wage bill and a major renovation of university sites. At the same time, the fight against mafia networks continues with the dismantling of a network of gold traffickers.

In short, the news in the DRC is rich and varied, ranging from politics to the economy, including security, health and environmental issues. Stay informed by regularly consulting our blog
