The Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) has just published the final list of candidates for the next legislative elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Of the 242 requests examined by the CENI, 141 were deemed admissible and well-founded, while 43 were admissible but unfounded and 68 were deemed inadmissible. The Constitutional Court also ordered the registration of four political parties. The lists of candidates are now displayed at the CENI branches and are available online. The electoral campaign will take place from November 19 to December 18, 2023, a crucial period for candidates who will have to convince voters with their programs. The election of national deputies is essential for democracy in the DRC because these representatives will play a key role in the development of laws and decision-making. Voters will therefore have to make an informed choice when voting. The publication of this list marks an important step in the electoral process and paves the way for the preparation of political parties and candidates for the campaign. The issues and debates of this election remain to be discovered, but Congolese citizens are called upon to carefully follow the campaign and find out about the candidates’ proposals in order to actively participate in the democratic process.
