A comprehensive approach, combining security, human rights protection and socio-economic development, is needed to resolve the crisis in the Beni region.

A serious fire broke out in the warehouse of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) in the province of South Kivu, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. According to the CENI report, almost 75% of electronic voting devices were destroyed, along with other essential equipment for the upcoming elections. Despite this incident, the CENI affirms that this will not prevent the opening of the Offices of Reception and Processing of Candidatures. The new provincial police commissioner of Kongo-Central, Israel Kantu, has announced measures to combat insecurity in the region.
