Beni prison, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, recently organized first aid training for its prison staff. Delivered by the MONUSCO Prison Administration Support Unit, this initiative aims to equip staff with the necessary skills to provide emergency medical assistance to detainees when necessary. The training focused on key skills such as cardiac massage and first aid measures in the event of a respiratory disorder. This training is of crucial importance, as Beni prison has already faced emergency situations. Thanks to these new skills, staff will be able to intervene quickly and effectively to rescue inmates in distress. This initiative not only helps ensure the safety and well-being of prisoners, but also promotes the role of prison staff as key players in protecting life within the prison.
