Moving tribute to the Wazalendo fighters who fell at the front: a call for national and international solidarity

The city of Goma was recently the scene of an emotional and dignified ceremony, paying tribute to the Wazalendo fighters who fell in combat in the Nyiragongo territory. During this event, local and national political figures gathered to salute the bravery and sacrifice of these young men who fell to defend their homeland.

Among the personalities present, MP Mumbere Bwanapuwa and national MP Enock Batsotsi expressed their solidarity with the bereaved families and their determination to restore peace in the East of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Colonel Cyprien Sekololo, coordinator of the volunteers for the defense of the homeland, stressed the determination of the Congolese government to put an end to foreign interference and to protect the sovereignty of the country.

The loss of these Wazalendo fighters recalls the challenges facing the DRC, in particular the aggressions perpetrated by rebel groups supported by neighboring countries. Enock Batsotsi Nyamwisi stressed the government’s commitment to combating this threat and prosecuting those responsible for these criminal acts. He also called for national and international solidarity to address this crisis situation.

In his speech, Eric Mumbere BwanaPua stressed the importance of justice and peace to rebuild a prosperous future for all Congolese. He stressed the need for Wazalendo fighters to maintain irreproachable conduct and called on the international community to take coercive measures against countries that destabilize the region.

The burial ceremony of these national heroes took place in a context of persistent tensions, marked by clashes between rebels and the army. These tragic events underline the urgency of finding lasting solutions to end the violence and restore stability in the Nyiragongo region.

By paying tribute to these courageous fighters, the people of Goma and their political leaders expressed their determination to defend the integrity of their country and build a better future for future generations.
