**Kasai-Central Governor Criticizes Government’s Inaction on Infrastructure**
As President Félix Tshisekedi visits the Kasai provinces in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kasai-Central Governor Joseph Moïse Kambulu took the floor to express his dissatisfaction with the lack of investment in infrastructure in his province.
At a press conference attended by the government spokesperson and the Minister of Infrastructure, Governor Kambulu stressed the urgent development needs of his population. He regretted the fact that his province felt “abandoned” by the central government, pointing to the lack of concrete actions to improve the living conditions of the inhabitants.
One of the Governor’s main demands concerns the Kananga to Kalamba Mbuji road, a crucial 230 km road axis that is currently in poor condition. The rehabilitation work was supposed to start in 2022, but the project was a failure. The Minister of Infrastructure promised that construction companies would be mobilized to make this road operational within the next six months.
Governor Kambulu’s criticism has sparked debate in the region, with divergent voices on the effectiveness of the actions taken by the head of state to improve infrastructure in Kasai. The Archbishop of Kananga, Monsignor Félicien Ntambwe, expressed his gratitude to President Tshisekedi for the achievements that contribute to improving the living conditions of the inhabitants of Kasai. However, the challenge remains significant in a region where infrastructure needs are glaring.
